Fourth of July Safety Tips With Your Pets

For many people, nothing beats lounging in the backyard on the Fourth of July with good friends and family—including furry friends. While it may seem like a great idea to reward your pet with scraps from the grill and bring him along to watch fireworks, in reality some festive foods and activities can be potentially hazardous to him. However, with a little planning thanks to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), you can ensure that your pets stay safe, happy and healthy during summer festivities. Visit the link for some helpful tips: www.aspca.org/pet-care/general-pet-care/fourth-july-safety-tips

Animal Support & Foster Services

Wildfires like those tearing through the Los Angeles area put both animals and people at risk, and the hearts of Cypress Dog and Cat Hospital go out to all of those who are affected. Below is a list of animal support and foster service:
  • The Canine Rescue Club: A volunteer-driven organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and giving them a second chance at life. All donations are being directed to the Palisades Fire Canine Relief Fund, helping dogs impacted by the recent wildfires. Fill out their online form to apply to foster dogs displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires.
  • Pasadena Humane: Pasadena Humane is caring for numerous animals displaced by the Eaton fire and is in desperate need of supplies. While direct monetary donations are the most helpful, the organization also has an Amazon Wishlist. If you are interested in fostering a displaced pet, email [email protected].
  • Pets In Need: Our own local Pets In Need is involved in supporting animals impacted in the LA fires. For ways to support, go here.
  • Rover.Com (Article): How to protect your dog from wildfire smoke and poor air quality. Resources and tips on how to care for your furry loved ones’ health and safety. Plus, side effects to look out for and fun alternative indoor activities.
  • San Diego Humane Society: The San Diego Humane Society has been evacuating and sheltering animals from the fires in Los Angeles. The organization is asking for volunteer fosters who can house some of the animals on a temporary basis.
